my first tutorial
-->

crop your image to 100 x 100

using the marquee tool, select the picture, with about 5 pixels around the edge.

click ctrl+shift+i to select the opposite of the inside, 5 pixels in. hit the delete button, so you now have a white border around your image.

duplicate your image and set it to screen 100%

create a new layer filled with 183E65 and set it to lighten 100%

create a new layer filled with 80B2E5 and set it to colorburn 100%

create a new layer between the screened layer and the lighten layer. fill the layer with E6D082 at overlay 100%,

and use the eraser tool to remove all of the areas with skin showing on this layer.

apply these tools that i put together in a zipped file for ps7. image piack also included

tada!

i would love to see what everyone created!
much love

I LOVE icon tutorials! It doesn't matter how many icons I've made, anytime I see one I have to do it. I think it keeps me out of getting in a rut with my icons. Anyways, I'll have to do this one when I get a little time.
And you'd probably be interested in [info]10variations. I did a set of Kate Bosworth Icons for them a while back. Anyways, it's a nother fun way to just experiment with your icons. You can make a claim, then follow their 10 guidelines for variations on one pic. I've done a couple more pics following the guidelines, just not posting them. Since you ♥ making icons, you might think about trying it out one day for fun.

::end the longest icon comment known to man:: :D
